The President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Mr. Francis Orbih, has inaugurated seven sub-committees for the federation that would work and reposition the game of badminton for sustainable growth in Nigeria.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration at a meeting with board members of the federation at Package B National stadium Abuja on Tuesday, the BFN President said the committees are to work with all the relevant stakeholders to elevate the game of badminton to world standard, through collaboration with stakeholders and Corporate Nigeria.
The seven committees are: Technical and Grassroots Development, Events Planning and Organizing, Marketing and Sponsorship, and Welfare, Ethics and Disciplinary. Others are Budget and Finance and Media and Publicity as well as Medical and Doping Control.
The board meeting which is second of its kind since the inauguration of the new board on Friday 21st July 2017, also approved the appointment of Olumide Bamiduro as Technical Director and Tunde Kazeem as co-opted member of the board.
The meeting unveiled the new Vision of the Federation which is to, ‘Elevate Badminton in Nigeria to world standard in collaboration with stakeholders and Corporate Nigeria; while its Mission is to ‘Establish Badminton Federation of Nigeria as a national brand for badminton excellence’.
Also revealed at the meeting are action plans for the last quarter of 2017 which include: national and international tournament as well as visit to states and FCT.
The President therefore appealed to Nigerians and other major stakeholders to support the new board’s leadership in its effort towards repositioning Badminton for sustainable growth in Nigeria.
